there is sadness here today
and there has been for a while

soaked into these walls
smudged into the carpet

hanging over us from the cieling
seedy-looking chandeliers.

it has been here for a while
and we have become accustomed to it

we wear it like a cloak
every morning

sit with it at breakfast
share our toast with it

sadness lives here
it has for a while

and we know nothing better anymore

than this gloom
and this state

and it feels too right.

your simple rhetoric
crumbled my world

left me on cold bathroom tiles
wondering why you stopped calling me

your words as heavy as blows
your shrugs piercing like daggers

do you know how much it hurt
when you stopped calling my name?

The moon is pretty above us, crescent
But we forget that the sun beneath us
Gives her her glow…

point of reasoning

my reasoning is simple:

1. i am lost alone
2. i therefore need help
3. You happen to be my help
so it follows that
4. i must rely on You.

our romance

our kind of romance is old
it is not young, loud, audacious

our kind of romance has a mature feel about it
as if it came late

and we are not used to it

long walks on beaches
this new companionship

we maneuver around each other
electrons around an atom

but unsure

is it true?
have i finally found you?

after years of pilgrimage
of searching

our romance
it is new, albeit old

it is exciting
but understandable

it is real

it has happened
you have happened to me.

It’s kind of ridiculous that you’re expected to get out of bed EVERY day

there is a loneliness in this world so great
that you can see it in the slow movement of
the hands of a clock.

people so tired
either by love or no love.

people just are not good to each other
one on one.

the rich are not good to the rich
the poor are not good to the poor.

we are afraid.

our educational system tells us
that we can all be
big-ass winners.

it hasn’t told us
about the gutters
or the suicides.

or the terror of one person
aching in one place

unspoken to

watering a plant.

Charles Bukowski, “The Crunch” (via larmoyante)
